Thailand: Wat Pho, Bangkok

The last three posts have been wordy so here a quickie today! One very shiny temple and a Pad Thai.

We jumped on a River boat from the Central Pier BTS Station, and bounced our way along the river waves to Wat Pho, Temple of the Reclining Buddha.

There’s a small restaurant, on the right hand side of the market when walking from the pier to the temple, called Ama where we had great pad thais.

I don’t usually make a blog post out of one dish but I have to compliment the vibe of the whole place. The decor was vibrant and artistic, and they play Reggae!  The host also has a drum by the counter that he sits by and taps along.

Mum had a great iced coffee – very necessary for walking around massive temples in 32 degrees.

The temple itself really is something, and the entire grounds will take you at least an hour (or more) to get around. Make a day of being in the area and take a visit to The Grand Palace which is within walking distance.

P.S. Be prepared to have to take your shoes off in any of the worship buildings, and ensure your shoulders are covered, with clothing to below the knee!
