NYC: Community Food and Juice, Morningside Heights

On our first full day spent in Manhattan, Mother and I went for brunch at Community Food and Juice

From where we are staying in Harlem, you can take the 1 train down to 110 St and walk a few blocks to Community Food and Juice. There seems to be some construction going on there at the moment, so have a good look for it beneath the scaffolding.

For brunch, I ordered sweet and Mum had savoury. Mum ordered the Country Breakfast: 2 eggs any style, Heritage maple sugar cured ham, carrot hash browns, with whole wheat buttermilk biscuit. Her favourite part by far was the ham: smoky, tender and sweet. “The ham is a definite reason to go back.”

I had brioche French toast with caramelised bananas, toasted organic Texas pecans, and warm maple butter. Delicioussssss! The maple butter was different to and better than the usual clear maple syrup accompaniment to French toast.

Featuring mum’s fingers for scale. Portions in America are for two.

So darn good!

Brunch for two including one coffee and one tea came to $41 plus tip. We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Community Food and Juice. Bonus is that their location is perfect if you’re on your way into town from Harlem or The Bronx. I imagine they are super busy on the weekend for brunch as pre-bookings are not accepted.
