I love visiting places recommended by other bloggers. I found HotBox on the blog of one of my favourite lifestyle bloggers, Rosie @ The Londoner. I booked for Mother’s Day brunch at midday to avoid any waiting, so were seated right away to get stuck into feasting.
Annoyingly, we were sat at shared benches along a long table, and under some yellow fluorescent beam lights so the photos aren’t as fabulous as if we had been seated at a real table by the windows.
The menu is short but sweet; filled with all my favourites.
Pancakes, waffles, avocado toast, ribs, burger… bring it all!
HotBox do a Liquid brunch for £25 a head, giving you unlimited Prosecco, Mimosa and various Bloody Mary’s (which the ladies sitting next to us were getting their monies worth out of), but Mother and I opted for tea and ginger beer.
I was torn between the waffle options and pancakes, but I don’t think I’ve had decent bacon and pancakes since New York so decided to give that a go.
Fluffy delicious pancakes, lighter and fluffier that the ones at The Breakfast Club I must add. The bacon to pancake ratio was perfect, and my friend commented on this picture saying, ‘that bacon was striped by the gods.’ Good bacon. I may have also ordered an English muffin to accompany my pancakes and bacon, for extra carbiliciousness.
Mother went for the full monty: ribs, mushrooms, egg and toast. She mentioned that the ribs were a bit fatty, but they were still rather delicious.
I think a girlfriends boozy brunch here may be necessary, and I’ve already had a look at HotBox’s dinner menu – sweet potato fries are always a winner in my eyes! See you again soon Hotbox.
